HuaXia CT Chinese School Newsletter#2--- Please Read, important information

Dear Parents, Students, Teachers, and Friends:

YES! We will open for business for the school year 2015 – 2016.

Date and Time:  9/12 1:30pm – 4:30pm.

Location:              Broadview Middle School, 72 Hospital Ave, Danbury CT.

Why not White Hall, Westconn?  Can you believe it? We were on the edge to close our school just one month ago.  华夏康州到了最后的时刻。Can you imagine that we don’t have a Chinese school at our local community?  Can you let a 10 year running Chinese school with over 100 students shut its door? NO!  The consequence is NOT ACCEPTABLE. So we fight!  For the past month, it was the most challenging month for the admin team of this school in our 10 year history.  A letter from WCSU indicated that they were no longer able to provide the classrooms needed for the next school year. Shocked, by everyone on the admin team, we were only one month away from school opening for school year 2015-2016. The clock is ticking and we need a place to host our classes.  After contacting almost all possible schools in the local community, Immanuel School, Brookfield public School, Ridgefield Public School, and Danbury public schools etc, we were only able to get a tentative agreement to use the Broadview Middle school at Danbury.  The location is only a couple of minutes away from our old Westconn White Hall Building.   However, the only way we can keep running at Broadview is under one condition; we CAN NOT mess up the classrooms!  We were denied of usage by Danbury High because teachers were afraid of us messing up the classrooms.  Broadview somehow verbally agreed during the negotiation process, but then they raised concerns as well. We are against the wall and have our only chance here.  We are asking every one of you to assist the school operation in anyway you can.  Here is a list of things that you can do to alleviate the burden of the admin team.

1. Registration – Register now and register today!  Make every effort to register online and mail in the check by 9/6/2015.  We have waived the registration fee $30 as long as you register before the first day of class.  This will alleviate our admin team’s burden on first day and also help us ordering the books. This is a new location and new environment. Please give the admin time to work on other more important issues.

2.  Attend the first Parent meeting on the first day.  9/12 1:45 – 3:00pm at Broadview Auditorium. We have very important information to share and discuss. Every one of us is stakeholder of this school.  这是一件大事。请大家都以主人公态度参加。谢谢。We need feedback and we need to work together to stay in Broadview and keep this school running for our future generations.

3.  Help school to enforce strict rule and standard.  We have no room for mistakes. If you see something not right, report it, correct it, and prevent it to happen.  每一个人都应该有责任感。Every little effort helps. We require every classroom to have one parent on duty to help teacher control classroom.  Parents please educate your kids that nothing in the classroom should be touched, moved, or re-arranged.

4.   Help school to get more enrollments. Bring your family, bring your friends, bring your kids, and bring everyone else’s kids.  Leave no kids behind. They all need Chinese lessons! This school needs student.  There are two weeks left, let’s get more students

In addition, our sincere thanks to Principal Su Xing who spent last year managing the school day to day operation.  Su Xing will join our board as a board member this year.  I would like to introduce our new Principal Shen Liu.  Shen relocated from St Louis over a year ago.  She has served as Principal of the local St Louis Chinese School with several years of experience and is also serving as a board member of 全美中文协会。With many years of experience in running a much larger Chinese school, she will bring great value to this school.  We are looking forward for her to take this school to the next level.

Thank you for your support for this school at this particular time.  危机成为转机。We hope this event will create a more tight bound of our community.  Unite, we stand.  Let’s all contribute to this school’s success and future.

Salute you all.
